Memories...
E and I went this past Friday evening to our area's Oyster Festival that has been going on for more than 40 years now. We both have such great memories of the festival...his growing up in that area and attending the festival from grammar school age all the way into his 20's. For me, I worked and lived in the area for four years, so I would attend with co-workers and friends. The thing we noticed most, like everything these days, is how much it has changed. It is geared more towards families with children as they have introduced lots of rides and carnival games. There is still a good amount of festival foods that we love and of course, the beer tasting. All in all we had a great time reminscing and enjoying the wonderful cool weather evening we were having - so not typical for the beginning of September.
Here is a pic E took of me that night. I was feeling very good about myself...wearing smaller size jeans. I did indulge in a lobster roll (without the bun), some fries, some fried dough and fried pickles and a taste or two of E's beer...how could I go to a festival of great food and not! The most important thing is that the next day I was back on low-carb eating...this I believe is the reason for my success...not feeling deprived and enjoying life's treats on occasion!
