AF's Arrival (AGAIN) and Mammogram Results

Went to my 2nd mammogram of my left breast this past Friday because they saw calcium deposits that were grouped together. They are usually 90% non-cancerous, but with the technology today and with breast cancer becoming more and more of a concern for women (even if no family history) they have recommended that I have a needle biopsy. I was alittle shocked when they called me into a seperate room to see my x-rays and talk with the doctor...alittle "surreal" you might say. Of course, I am more nervous about the procedure at this point, thoughts of a needle going into your boob doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy for sure, but I am hoping in my heart of hearts that it all turns out fine and I can put this behind me for another year. Scheduled for Friday, April 6th (Good Friday, I am off from work).

AF arrived on Saturday and so far it has been normal and I started taking the increased dose of the progestrin last week, but the doc said they it will take time to work so I am not surprised that AF showed again about 2 weeks since last one. Hope with this increase it will become more of a normal cycle.

Otherwise, had a good weekend. Spent Saturday with my sister out shopping and having lunch. So, good to have some girl time with her and I could tell she needed just as much as me. Although my dad is doing well health-wise, but he is still 92 years old and his memory isn't always good so I know it can get exhausting for her to have to care for him at times. She still works a full-time job M-F as well and she will be 65 years old in June.

Work is back in full swing as the kids and teachers arrived back today from Spring Break. It was nice to have the quietness and the ability to dress down these last 2 weeks and before I know it June will be here and school will let out and we will go back to that quietness and casual dress for the entire summer. I have to do some more shopping for casual clothes for this summer as it has been a long long time since I was able to dress down for work during the summer months.

Fitnesspal is going well and although I haven't weighed myself yet, I am feeling like I might have lost a pound or so. This Weekend I stayed on track (even when I went out with my ex co-workers on Friday - had a salad and the low-carb cheesecake and brought home leftovers too and on Sat. with my sister - had a weight watchers meal at Applebee's - Asian Shrimp and Broccoli...it was yummy!) Now to fit more exercise in as our weather got cooler over the weekend so we didn't do any walking at the community center. I just keep telling myself that I need to just take it "day by day".

  3. Just came across your blog from Stirrup Queens blogroll. I had the needle biopsy done last summer and the procedure is really not too bad physically speaking (emotionally, now that's another story!). The nurse told me it won't be as bad as you think it will, and honestly it wasn't. It was fast, not all that painful (more pressure and loud noises), and only mild discomfort after that fact. My results came back fine and I hope yours do, too! Good luck.
