Update...

Had a good appt with my gyn the other day. Here is the scoop: she is uping my progestrin from 100mg to 200mg hoping that this will lessen AF from coming as frequently. Checked BP and all is good, but I was up 4 pounds from last visit in January. I explained how frustrated I am over not being able to lose the weight and she totally understands. It is hard to lose as we age and during menopause (our bodies tend to slow down metobalism and store the fat in our middles). She suggests still keeping track of food intake and plugging along with the exercise (even mentioned swimming as an option due to my patella pain in the knee). It will take longer to lose, but don't give up. Eat lots of veggies and fruit - less on carbs and watch the fats and don't assume that just because it is good fat you have permission to eats lots of it (like avocado - which I happen to love). Doesn't think thyroid is the issue (which I had tested about 2 years ago). So, if I don't have any issues with the change in the progestrin then she will see me next January.

So, on my way home from the appt, I stopped at this wonderful produce place and loaded up on veggies and fruit. When I got home, I chopped up all veggies into portion size containers so they are ready for me during the week. I even purchased some frozen yogurt which I had last night with some pears on it...not bad. Like I have said before, I am good during the week, it will be the weekends that will be the toughest for me. We will continue to go out to eat once a week (I refuse to stop living) - I will just have to make healthier choices when possible. I love fish...so will try to keep that in mind when looking at a restuarant menu. I will be going out with a bunch of ex co-workers this Friday for dinner, so this will be a good first test...we are dining at the Cheesecake Factory, they have a huge menu, but also have wonderful cheesecake too...UGH. One of my favorite dessert - might have to opt for the sugar-free one at the least.

Also, have to go back for another mammogram this Friday as well...they saw something in my left breast that wasn't there on previous screenings. I am not overly concerned as this has happened to me once before and turned out to be calcium deposits. None the less, I won't lie and say I am not alittle nervous, but at least I will know the result before I leave there. Keeping the faith - just another hurdle, right?

On a brighter note: the weather can't be more perfect here...we might hit 80 degrees today...is it really just March? Crazy, huh.

  1. We were well into the 80's today...downright hot...what happened to Spring?

Good luck on Friday; I as well have a dermatology visit - which always makes me nervous for I have many many moles.
